April Hughes began her journey in ABA as a Behavior Therapist over 10 years ago. With an original goal of becoming a Marriage and Family therapist, April began working directly with children with Autism while pursuing her bachelor’s degree in Psychology. It was while working as a Behavior Therapist that April fell in love with the field of ABA and decided to change her goal from counseling to becoming a BCBA. She says, “Utilizing ABA to help empower children and their families to live their lives to the fullest is something I am passionate about.”
April received her Bachelor’s in Psychology from the University of Maryland and her Master of Education in Foundations in Behavior Analysis from the University of Cincinnati. She has worked with children on the spectrum from the ages of 2 to 16 years old with a passion for helping children with challenging behavior to develop functional communication skills. Throughout her career in ABA, April has mentored RBT’s and BCBA’s; assisting them in helping the families they serve and reaching their goals in the field.
Outside of work you can find April hanging out with her husband and twin daughters outdoors, at car shows, and traveling. You may also find her at any good restaurant as she considers herself a foodie and loves to try new and interesting foods from all over the world.
