Cara began working in the field of ABA as an undergraduate student at the University of Maryland, Baltimore County. In search of an internship related to her Psychology degree, she accepted a job doing direct services with clients. She quickly saw the positive impact of this work and knew that this was the career that she wanted to pursue! She continued to work with clients of a variety of ages, as well as in a focused early intervention program, through graduation. She later accepted a full-time position at the Kennedy Krieger Institute’s LEAP program, a school for individuals with ASD who display pervasive behavioral challenges. After 3 years with Kennedy Krieger, Cara moved to Austin, TX to complete her masters program.
Cara received her masters degree in Special Education with a concentration in Autism and Developmental Disabilities from the University of Texas at Austin in 2014. She received her BCBA certification later that year. As a BCBA, Cara returned to her focus on Early Intervention with a clinic that provides ABA and speech services. A few years later, Cara accepted a position as a clinical supervisor working with a wider range of clients.
Cara relocated to North Carolina in 2019, where she joined the KBH team! She is proud to be a part of KBH’s mission, to help provide high quality services to our clients, and to work alongside a team of talented and dedicated individuals.
Outside of work, Cara focuses on spending time with her family. As a mom to young kids, her time for hobbies is limited, but she loves playing with her dogs, doing yoga, reading, and traveling.
